Emily Kitt was first introduced to the world of jewelry making while taking an “introduction to fine metals” class when she was an art education student at Kutztown University. Working with metal became a part of her very being and the passion remained long after finishing her schooling.
Inspiration strikes on an almost-daily basis. A rock, a bottle cap, a piece of plastic; it could be the texture, the shape, or its particular color that makes it stand out. Emily’s jewelry production can’t keep up with the multitude of stimulating objects she collects, as well as the gemstones and pearls amassed over the years, so they are all housed in a wooden cigar box, waiting to be used. She uses mainly sterling and fine silver for her work, but has an affinity for copper as well. Her style is described as “whimsical,” “imaginative,” and “youthful.” She is always willing to try something new but never strays far from her “hollow-form” silver pieces.
Spending most of her days working at a local book publishing company, Emily also enjoys whipping up innovative and dazzling meals in her kitchen. She resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Patrick, and their two rescued English bulldogs, Harley and Phoebe. |
