Heidi Urbanski is a stained glass artist and jewelry designer who started working in glass because of her mother. Heidi’s mom was an amazing stained glass artist, potter and painter who died in 1996. It took Heidi 10 years to even contemplate following in her footsteps. Completely self-taught, Heidi relies on the memory of her mother working in her studio, help from friends and trial and error. When Heidi showed the first piece of jewelry she ever made to her husband he asked if she was going to make the rest of the states, or just Arizona. She kept that piece as a reminder of how far she has come and how much further she can go.
Heidi is a graduate of Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, with a B.A. in media communications, with an emphasis in media production. She and her husband now live in State College, Pennsylvania, and have two children and two dogs. She is a fabulous multi-tasker who used to wait until her children were asleep to create her jewelry. She discovered she didn’t like working without the benefit of natural light … her solder does not seem to flow as smoothly at night!
Heidi makes her jewelry as interesting and unique as the people who wear it, and the pieces reflect the simplicity and beauty in everyday life. |
