Ann Biernat-Rucker began making jewelry in October of 2001 by taking a beading class at the Baum School of Art. Ann makes what she loves, and what she loves changes from month to month. You will find a wide variety in her work including beads, silver and vintage elements.
Her inspiration is a combination of the latest clothing trends and what she discovers at antique shows. "I love to take an under-appreciated element, maybe something architectural, and turn it into a necklace, for instance. Especially when it complements the clothing they are showing in the stores. Women, especially as they get older, know what clothing makes them look great. And it may be the same color or style they have worn for years. It’s all about finding the right accessory, preferably a one-of-a-kind piece, to make their personal statement."
Ann was born on the East Coast but spent most of her early years in Minnesota. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, specializing in advertising design and copywriting. She is the owner of bluestem studio and lives in the Lehigh Valley with her husband, Ron. When not working as the director of marketing for the Weller Health Education Center or making jewelry, she is scouring antique shows for her latest find. |
